If there is any issue encounter while activating Norton, you may receive “Server error” message that says try later. Or when you are dealing with issues related to a known system problem or outage.
Run LiveUpdate to resolve this problem:
- Start Norton.
- Head to the notification area and right-click on the Norton icon, and then click on Run LiveUpdate.
- Click OK after Norton LiveUpdate is finished.
- Until you see the message, “Your Norton product has the latest protection updates,” run LiveUpdate.
- Close all the running programs, and restart your computer.
- Your Norton will be activated successfully.
Or to fix the “Server error”, you can follow the steps given below:
STEP 1 Download And Run The Fix Tool
- Download the fix tool and save its file to the Windows desktop.
- Double-click the NortonActivationRepair.exe file, on your desktop.
- You agree to accept the Usage Agreement, by running the tool.
- On Windows computers, download and install Microsoft .NET Framework’s latest version if you get the message “Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application”.
- Run the fix tool once again after installing the .NET Framework.
- Restart your computer by clicking OK button.
- Activate your Norton product after the computer restarts.
- Uninstall and reinstall your Norton product if the problem persists and go to Step 2.
STEP 2 Download And Run The Norton Removal And Reinstall Tool
- Before you download and run the Norton Removal and Reinstall tool, uninstall Norton Family if you have already installed it on your device.
- Download the Norton Removal and Reinstall tool.
- Save the file to the Windows desktop. Depending on browser, the file will automatically save to its default location.
- Press the Ctrl + J key, to open the Downloads window in your browser.
- Click twice on the NRnR icon.
- Click Agree to accept license agreement after reading the license agreement.
- Click Remove & Reinstall.
- If Norton is from your service provider, you may see the Remove button.
- Click Continue or Remove.
- Now click Restart.
- Follow the on-screen instructions for reinstalling Norton after the computer restarts.
How To Take Care Of The Issue If You See The Message: “Cannot Connect To The Norton Server”
You may see the message: “Unexpected Browser error or Cannot connect to the Norton server” while activating your Norton product. For fixing this issue, change your default web browser on Windows 8/7/Vista/XP and on your Windows 10 computer, set a default web browser.
On Windows 8/7/Vista/XP
- To change default web browser on Windows 8/7/Vista/XP, open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows + R keys together.
- Type in the following text, and then hit Enter key on the keyboard.
“Control”
- Click Continue when the User Account Control window appears.
- Next to View by in the Control Panel window, select Category from the drop-down list.
- Next click Programs in the Control Panel window.
- Click Set your default programs. under Default Programs.
- Select your preferred browser under Programs in the Set your default programs window, and click Set this program as default.
- Click OK.
On Windows 10
- To set a default web browser on your Windows 10 computer, head to your Windows desktop, go to Start > Settings > System.
- Click Default apps and choose the web browser that you want to set as default under Web browser.
- Activate your Norton product.
How To Fix The Error: “Unable To Activate Norton Product On Mac”?
- To fix this issue, Run LiveUpdate.
- You must be in the Finder, before you begin. To be in the Finder, click the desktop or the Finder icon in the Dock.
- Click Go > Applications on the menu bar.
- Open the Symantec Solutions folder.
- Click twice LiveUpdate.
- By clicking the Norton QuickMenu icon on the menu bar, you may also start LiveUpdate. And then clicking LiveUpdate > Open LiveUpdate.
- Click Update Everything Now.
- The LiveUpdate summary window appears after LiveUpdate finishes the update. Now you may quit LiveUpdate.
- To ensure that you have all available updates, Run LiveUpdate again.
- Exit all the programs when you see a prompt to restart the computer, and then restart your computer.
- After you restart your computer, activate your Norton product for Mac.
