Steam TV by Valve Makes a Premature Debut

Earlier today, the gaming world went into a tizzy when Twitter user @thexpaw pointed to the steam.tv website and confirmed that it is real. However, visitors were welcomed with a blank site with a message prompt “Welcome to Steam.tv.” Other users after thorough inspection found out the certificate proclaimed the website to be originally belonging to Valve. Of course, rumours have been rife that Valve has been working on a website to give a stiff competition to Amazon’s Twitch.tv.

Surprisingly, a few hours later, the website went live streaming the company’s highly rated game – Dota 2. Gamers could log into their Steam account access the Dota 2 stream of The International. The website also gave gamers access to their friend lists to initiate group chats and even supported voice chat (although only over the Chrome browser and not over Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge). It was similar to the regular chat offered on the Steam Community but had additional features like inviting friends to watch videos while chatting. In the sneak peek preview, it was clear that the company has really worked on its usual Steam Broadcasting website and tried to make it more native.

This got everyone excited since the annual Dota 2 e-sport tournament, The International, is scheduled to take off on the 20th of August. Soon enough, all the gamers were scrambling over to the Steam.tv to try out streaming their game. However, soon enough the website was taken down.

This sudden removal of the website left everyone dumbfounded and confused. On reaching out to the Valve’s representatives, it later came to light that the Steam.tv indeed belongs to Valve and the streaming website was undergoing testing. No official comment is out as to whether it is Valve’s alternative to Twitch or even Mixer (Microsoft) and YouTube Gaming (Google).

Funnily, Steam.tv was supposed to be a covert operation and meant for the public eye. Works are underway to update Steam Broadcasting of The International. Hopefully, if everything goes well and according to plan, the final version of Steam.tv will be up and running just in time for The International, which is slotted from 20th to 25th August.

How to Deregister and Reset Amazon Echo Dot

Remove Amazon Echo from Amazon Account on Mobile

1. Launch the Amazon Alexa app on your phone. Its icon is blue.

4. Enter your login credentials: email and password for your Amazon account.
5. After signing in. Click on the Accounts and Lists option located at the top right edge of the screen.
6. Now, from the pull-down list, select Your Content and Devices.
7. Just head to the Your Devices section.
8. Now, all the devices you have registered to the Amazon account will show up.
9. Locate Echo Dot. Click on the three dots button following it.
10. In the next prompt, click on the Deregister button.
11. In the confirmation box, click again on the Deregister button.
12. Now, the Amazon Echo Dot will get deregistered.

How to Reset Echo Dot?

First Generation

1. Insert a pin or a paper clip and press the Reset button. It will be located at the bottom of Echo Dot.
2. Keep holding the button until the Echo Dot’s light becomes orange. After a few seconds, it will turn blue.
3. Now, the light should switch off and then switch on.
4. After that, the light will turn to orange and the Echo Dot will enter the setup mode.

Second Generation

1. If the Amazon Echo comes with volume buttons, then just hit and hold the following buttons: Microphone off and Volume decrease. Make sure you press the buttons simultaneously.
2. The light will change to orange. After a few more seconds, the light will change to blue.
3. Keep holding the buttons until the light powers off and then on.
4. When the light changes to orange for the second time, the Echo Dot will get in the setup mode.

How to Restore Messages from iCloud
